Western Hemlock is the single most plentiful tree specie in the upper Western United States and coastal regions of British Columbia, Canada. When properly finished and maintained, Western Hemlock is an ideal choice as a bevel siding. The kiln-drying process inhibits natural staining of the wood, improves its strength and stiffness, enhances appearance and increases resistance to decay and attack from insects. Resin-free, no bleeding after painting
Characteristics of Western Hemlock
- Established softwood species
- Uniform, attractive grain pattern
- Light, reddish brown with a slight purple tinge
- Sapwood may be slightly lighter but is difficult to distinguish from the heartwood
- Turns, planes and shapes well
- Grips nails, screws and accepts glues without a problem
- Sands with outstanding results
- Fine texture, tight grain pattern, even density
- Excellent matching properties
- Resin-free, no bleeding after painting
